Do you want to feel more grounded and engaged with the world around you?
Are you looking for resolution and integration rather than continuing to just cope? Do you need support managing stress in your life? "Somatic Experiencing (SE™) aims to resolve symptoms of stress, shock, and trauma that accumulate in our bodies. When we are stuck in patterns of fight, flight, or freeze, SE helps us release, recover, and become more resilient. The SE approach releases traumatic shock, which is key to transforming PTSD and the wounds of emotional and early developmental attachment trauma. It offers a framework to assess where a person is “stuck” in the fight, flight or freeze responses and provides clinical tools to resolve these fixated physiological states. Trauma may begin as acute stress from a perceived life-threat or as the end product of cumulative stress. Both types of stress can seriously impair a person’s ability to function with resilience and ease." -from SE 101 Somatic therapy is a bottom up approach - the focus is on coming home to our bodies in a way that is safe and supportive and allows integration. Somatic therapy can help you build the resources in your life, feel more grounded and less overwhelmed, and find more joy and clarity in life. In sessions, I incorporate a deep understanding of nervous system physiology with a holistic and person-centered approach to trauma healing. Somatic therapy can include touch work, movement, or dialogue while incorporating an awareness of the body. We will focus on integrating aspects of experience and the self like images, emotions, and bodily sensations. We will go at your pace and focus on building resilience and nervous system regulation. |
